Conducting a literature review often involves comparing numerous studies, methods, and results.
Indeed, without a structured tool, it can quickly become difficult to maintain a clear and coherent overview.
To help you, Agence PhDesign is providing the research community with a free data extraction table template.
Le tableau conçu pour faciliter l’organisation, la comparaison et la synthèse des études scientifiques.
The table is designed to facilitate the organization, comparison, and synthesis of scientific studies.
A tool to help you organize your data extraction
The template allows you to consistently document key information for each study: references, objectives, study population, methodology, results, limitations, and other details relevant to your project.
The file is organized into three complementary tables :
Information Table
For information common to all studies: reference, DOI, objective, population, study type, sample, funding, conflicts of interest, etc.
Qualitative Data
To document qualitative studies in greater detail: approach, sampling, data collection, analysis, coding, quality assurance strategies, themes, results, and citations.
Quantitative Data
For quantitative studies: study design, study groups, intervention or exposure, variables, measurement methods, statistical analyses, effect measures, and main results.
Each study is assigned a unique Study_ID, making it easy to link information across the different tables.
A model that can be adapted to your project
The table can be used as part of a literature review, an exploratory review (scoping review), a master’s thesis, a doctoral dissertation, or a knowledge synthesis project.
The columns and lists provided serve as a starting point: you can adapt them based on your research question, your protocol, and the level of detail required.
Finally, the template is intended for students, researchers, research professionals and assistants, academic teams, research centres, and organizations looking to structure their data extraction process.
