Website for Steve Geoffrion: Showcasing a Researcher's Profile

Steve Geoffrion is an associate professor of psychoeducation at the Université de Montréal (UdeM), co-director of the Centre d'étude sur le trauma, a researcher at the Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (CRIUSMM), a researcher with a FRQSC-IRSST scholarship, and a psychoeducator and psychotherapy trainee.

His mission is to better understand the causes of psychological distress in at-risk organizations (health and social services, public safety) and to co-construct effective psychological support strategies with them.

Goals

Steve wanted a simple, effective virtual business card with a clean design that matched his visual identity to help him reach his target audience while promoting his expertise and projects.

We leveraged our combined expertise in the following areas:

  • Selection and highlighting of key information
  • Building the website
  • Promotion
Information

Selection and highlighting of key information

Selecting key information allows us to extract the relevant data for the target audience from the researcher's CV: missions, degrees, interests, biography, careers, titles and affiliations, experiences, research projects, publications, training, media and support.

Writing and popularizing the different sections is essential to highlighting key information. The chosen approach: ideation meeting with the researcher, identification of the target audience and the key message, selection of the relevant information, writing and popularization of the different sections, validation and adjustments with the researcher.

Because the website is addressed to a specific target audience, it was important to carefully select, write and popularize the information so that the website remains simple, effective and direct. This way, people interested in knowing more can contact the researcher directly from the web page or refer to the CV on the website.

Building the website

The next step was to build the site. We started by creating the layout of the website while respecting the visual identity of Steve Geoffrion that we had created in a previous project (colors, typography, graphic elements).

Once the layout was validated, we followed it to build the website. The chosen approach: creation of a template, validation and adjustments, publishing.

Promotion

The final step was to promote the site on the researcher's Linkedin profile and on our social media. The researcher will also have the choice of including his new website in his signature.

Conclusion

The creation of this first OPEN website has allowed Steve Geoffrion to showcase his expertise, projects and interests to his target audience, all in accordance with his branding. This website will be a real boost in the development of his collaborations and in the promotion of his career.

From the selection of the relevant information to the promotion of the website, this case study presents some of our design and consulting expertise and services.

We know that it is important to develop visibility outside of the academic community in order to highlight the different work done. This is why we have developed an almost turnkey solution to support this effort: Project OPEN (One-Page, rEsearch, Networking).

This website is intended to complement, not replace, the pages offered by academic institutions.
