To what end? To give tips and tricks to prepare scientists to communicate with the media. We add some points at the end of the post. In addition to Viviane Lalande, the speakers in the video are &nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usherbrooke.ca\/recherche\/specialistes\/details\/marie-eve.carignan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marie-\u00c8ve Carignan<\/a> (Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polymtl.ca\/expertises\/gervais-thomas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomas Gervais<\/a> (Polytechnique), <a href=\"https:\/\/oraprdnt.uqtr.uquebec.ca\/pls\/public\/genw050r.page_perso?owa_no_personne=514740\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laurent Turcot<\/a> (Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Trois-Rivi\u00e8res) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usherbrooke.ca\/recherche\/specialistes\/details\/karine.premont\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karine Pr\u00e9mont<\/a> (Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke). The video emphasizes the importance of :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be prepared.<\/strong> Avoid accepting an interview without prior preparation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask questions.<\/strong> It is important to have information about the parameters of the interview. For example, ask: What is expected? How much time will you have? Is the interview pre-recorded or live? Will I be alone or will there be another guest who will react to what I say?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Know your audience and the type of media.<\/strong> You need to know: who the interview is for, who will listen to the interview and for what type of media (TV, radio, print\/web).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prepare your message.<\/strong> Three essential questions are: What do I want to say? To whom do I want to say it? How do I want to say it?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Write down key points.<\/strong> Prepare a short list of key points on a small sheet of paper (to limit the space available). Ask yourself: what is the key message you want people to remember?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rehearse your script.<\/strong> Practice your list of key points several times, without memorizing it. Memorizing can lead to a lack of fluidity in the discussion and irrelevant answers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not try to guide the interview.<\/strong> The direction of the interview is up to the reporter, not the interviewee. The same is true if you don&#8217;t understand the question. Ask the host to rephrase: &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure I understood your question.
